If President's Choice products are not available in the US, I feel very sorry for you guys.

They are distributed here through a number of big supermarket chains, but I don't recall having seen that particular product. I love banana cream pie but would have to check the label for use of high fructose corn syrup among the ingredients before giving it a try...

I don't think we do. But maybe Canada sends us 'Prime Minister's Choice' instead :-p

Heh. The 'President' in this case refers to the company's president!

Is there a 'Staff's Choice' dinner then?

I believe Chef Boyardee makes those.

Both Chicago and LA have President's Choice stuff, and I love it! Now, are they technically a store brand up there? Or a stand alone brand?

They are at The Jewels here in Chicago.

Here I've only seen them sold in one chain (and its sub-chains).

President's Choice is a premium store brand sold in Canada through grocery chains affiliated with the National Grocers distribution system (mostly Loblaw's, Fortino's, Great Canadian Superstore and Zehr's supermarkets, No Frills and Valu-Mart discount grocery stores and Hasty Market convenience stores). The line is also distributed extensively in the US, generally to supermarket chains trying to position themselves as upscale. The idea for the brand came from a combination of the hugely successful Trader Joes stores (the President's Choice Insider Report is a direct steal of the Trader Joes newsletters) and a very successful store brand developed by the UK's Sainsbury's chain.

I kind of chuckled years ago when my buddys in Dallas wanted to introduce me to some of their favourite products at the local David's supermarket in the Cedar Springs area, and they were mostly President's Choice items exported from Canada. On the other hand, I used to buy really great aged Black Diamond white cheddar cheese in the Nieman-Marcus Epicure shop in San Francisco, and laughed when I moved to Toronto and a friend of mine said, "Black Diamond? Oh, yeah, they make the lower quality equivalent of Kraft Singles."

After eating something good, I'm not usually one of those people who say, "I can die happy now." But after this...

Also, I tend to tire quickly of foods, even the ones I love. But I think I could've eaten the whole pie in one sitting.

Also worth checking out is the Dulce de Leche with banana spread. It's delish! Oh and the Dulce de Leche Cheesecake.

They've been hawking Dulce for a few years now. And for a good reason! It's a flavour of caramel that is pretty distinct and delicious.

It is. I'm not a big cheesecake fan, but that pie is ridiculously delicious.
